Where is your alpaca clothing made and do you know who makes your clothes?

All of our pieces are mindfully made in Peru. We're proud to have strong ties to all of our suppliers, with whom we speak to and visit regularly. Please visit our supplier page to learn more.

Are the alpacas harmed or killed for their fur or fibers?

Never, all of our alpaca furs and fibers are cruelty-free. The alpaca industry thrives thanks to generations of Peruvians whose livelihood relies on the alpaca to put food on the table and a roof over their head. The alpaca is one of Peru’s most treasured gems and worth far more to the Peruvians alive than dead. Alpacas are sheared annually for their fibers. Only when an alpaca has passed due to a natural or unpreventable cause is the fur removed from the animal. Due to the ethical nature of this process, our fur is sometimes in limited supply but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

How do I care for my clothing?

While we suggest most items be dry cleaned, some of our baby alpaca fur can be gently hand washed with baby shampoo (do not immerse). Please see each item's dedicated description for its composition and unique care instructions and visit our alpaca garment care page to learn more about this amazing fiber.

Is alpaca clothing itchy or rough on the skin?

On the contrary, alpaca fibers naturally lack the lanolin that causes itching from other wools. Known for it’s luxurious properties, alpaca fibers have been described as “stronger than mohair, finer than cashmere, smoother than silk, softer than cotton, warmer than goose down and better-breathing than thermal knits.”** Produced without the need for harsh chemicals or high temperatures, alpaca fibers are naturally flame-resistant, lightweight and temperature regulating. Please visit our alpaca garment care page to learn more.

Why do you add wool to some of your pieces?

The addition of wool in some of our capes is very intentional. Wool gives the cape added movement so that the piece has bouyancy and can flow as you walk in order to show it's full beauty.
